Kate Nash’s album My Best Friend is You will be released (technically) tomorrow but her new video is out already. The first song she’s promoting is called Do Wah Doo and I liked it specially for the lyrics. Once more she wrote a song about not being the pretty girl and not being noticed by the boy she loves. I quite relate to ‘not being noticed’ thing. Her songs fun and sweet with hints of black humour.
Kate Nash is a 22 year-old English singer and songwriter. Her first album Made of Bricks (2007) was released after Lily Allen recommended her songs on MySpace. Since then she’s been compared with Lily Allen for some black humour in her lyrics and with Regina Spektor for her voice and style. Check out her new video.
My favourite song of her is still Birds which was the first song I’ve heard from her. This song is a little love history and it’s super cute! I can picture the perfect video for it but unfortunately they didn’t promote the song.
Another thing I love about her is the poems she writes to fit in her songs and sometimes ordinary spoken poems. They sound fun and fresh, different from anything I’ve heard. This is Pistachio Nut, a poem she wrote for her best friend.
Kate Nash’s style is another thing that will make you love her (if you don’t already do). She’s all about vintage skirts and dresses, coloured tights and bright colours.

I’m not familiar with her previous music, but I’ve heard Do Wah Doo a few times (and have it downloaded) and I lovelovelove it. I’m definitely keeping my eyes peeled for her new album to see if the rest of it lives up to that same standard.

I loved Kate’s first album and just picked this one up, can’t wait to listen to it and see what it’s like. Fingers crossed it’s as good as the first
